Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What exactly do you do?
A. We bring interactive TV to millions of households. With millions more to come soon. Behind this revolution: our EBIF-compliant software that goes seamlessly into digital set-top boxes. We are a true technotainment company, sitting at the dynamic intersection of software and entertainment.

Our platform runs on Cisco, Motorola, and Tru2Way equipment. On the operator side, we are woven into Time Warner Cable’s MDN platform, as well as being the complete platform solution for small operators in need of EBIF solutions. On the programming side, we have exciting work going on with the Dallas Mavericks, eBay on TV, Yellow Pages on TV, Fantasy Sports Trackers, and PiTV – local information with true hyperpersonalization.

On the advertising side, we are working closely with industry partners and MSOs on the emerging advanced TV advertising ecosystem. As “the brain of the box,” we integrate with campaign management, digital insertion, and data collection companies to make the ecosystem hum.
Q. Why did you choose the name FourthWall Media?
A. We chose FourthWall because the idea of a “fourth wall” standing between a performance and its audience is something that TV and Hollywood have long talked about. We enable programmers and advertisers, who live on one side of the wall, to connect with their audiences, who live on the other side of the wall. Our media properties and underlying technology break that barrier and establish one-on-one connections. That makes us FourthWall Media.
Q. Will Biap disappear?
A. The Biap name will live on in our technology product offerings. Operators know the high-performance results and market-ready reliability of the Biap EBIF User Agent, ETV Platform Server, and ETV Asset Manager. They associate Biap with in-depth set-top-box expertise, along with our EBIF implementation expertise. For these reasons, we’re proud the Biap name will continue with our Biap ETV Platform offering.
Q. Will anything change now that your name has?
A. We will continue to operate in the same way, with the same technological prowess, innovative energy, and collaborative spirit.
Q. How can you be in the widget business? You don’t show up on Facebook or iPhone.
A. Our widgets are interactive TV applications. Our Ad Widgets® and TV Widgets® are both in-programming properties that show up within regularly scheduled programming or advertising, and stand-alone apps that deliver cross-platform features to your television set. So, instead of one-size-fits-all advertising or programming, FourthWall Media delivers one-to-one messages and features to a TV near you.
Q. Is all this trackable?
A. Of course. We are all about giving you the tools to understand, monitor, and measure consumer behavior (with all the appropriate privacy controls, of course). Interactive TV also means ACTIVE measurement.
Q. What's your mission?
A. We want to make television as dynamic and engaging as the other media that occupy consumers’ leisure time. This is a quadruple win – appropriately enough, given that we are FourthWall Media:

  • Consumers win, because watching television becomes a conversation with television.

  • Advertisers win, because they can engage, communicate with, and persuade consumers in completely new ways.

  • Programmers win, because now they can turn their content into a dynamic, two-way dialogue.

  • Video operators win, because they can create loyalty, thereby protecting and enhancing revenue.
We have been running FourthWall Media’s EBIF platform since Sept. 2008, and we have tremendous confidence in it.… we are excited about the upside of interactive advertising made possible with their advanced advertising solution."
