Time Warner Cable, Using BIAP Systems’ Interactive Technology, Expands Availability of ’Fantasy Football Tracker’
Fantasy Football Fans Can Track Their Own Teams on Television, With Individual Player Stats Continually Updated, Weekly Polls and Breakout Performance Alerts
Stamford, CT & Sterling, VA - September 19, 2006 - Time Warner Cable and BIAP Systems today announced the launch of the Time Warner Cable Fantasy Football Tracker in Columbia, SC; and San Antonio and Austin, TX. The Time Warner Cable Fantasy Football Tracker is also returning to Green Bay, WI, where it initially launched last year.
This interactive TV application gives fantasy football players the ability to track their entire team’s roster with the touch of a button on their digital cable remote, while tuned to any channel. Traditionally, fantasy football players who watched football games on television had to run to their computers to get updates on their own fantasy team. Not anymore.
Powered by BIAP’s intelligent interactive television software, fantasy football fans will be able to use a quick and intuitive on-screen setup process to input their fantasy football teams. When they watch their favorite team play on Sunday, they can get updates on their unique players right on screen without ever leaving their couch.
The Time Warner Cable Fantasy Football Tracker is available on any channel all week long so the fantasy player can get football news and information, make adjustments to their starting team and keep abreast of changes to key players at their convenience. Information from around the league as well as game scores, passing, rushing, receiving and kicking leaderboards, injury updates, player headlines and other information of interest to fantasy football players is always available. Customers can easily select to view this information as either a scrolling ticker or in a full screen format that provides more detailed information. For the non-fantasy player, the application has been pre-populated by local team stats and info.
"Fantasy football is growing by leaps and bounds," said Bob Benya, Time Warner Cable Senior Vice President of On Demand. "What better way to empower our football-loving customers than with the ability to track their own fantasy players while watching their favorite team play on Sunday without having to run back and forth to their computer? If interactive television applications are going to be successful they need to make the customers lives more convenient or the television experience better. This application does both."
"One of the very cool features we have added to this application from last year’s launch in Green Bay, is the Breakout Performance Alerts," said Barry Carpe, Vice President of Sports Applications for BIAP Systems. "When one of your team members accomplishes something of note during a game, an alert indicator will appear on your screen. You will get these alerts regardless of which channel you are on at the moment and you can dig into the application right then to find out more."
