BIAP Inc. Receives Second Patent For Content Retrieval Technology and Transcoding
Company is the Leading Provider of Interactive Television Applications

Plano, TX. - Nov. 6 - BIAP Inc. announced today that the United States Patent Office has issued a patent for the company’s agent-based content retrieval technology and for its transcoding technology which allows information to be displayed from one format to another. In this case the transcoding occurs between the web and television.

In September, 2006, BIAP was issued its first patent for the company’s apparatus and method of information retrieval and display of Internet content. While that patent covered use on PCs, cell phones, PDAs and television, BIAP’s primary application to date is in the area of interactive television.

The patents cover an area that is a foundation technology for all of BIAP’s applications currently in use. Those applications include eBay on TV, Fantasy Sports (both baseball and football), PITV (personalized information television) which offers viewers local news and information on a personalized basis and the Winter Olympics done in conjunction with NBC/Universal which ran in 2006.

BIAP’s patented technology employs Artificial Intelligence Agents to retrieve and display data on televisions. These agents are downloaded to the set-top box where they retrieve content from various Internet locations at prearranged intervals – as fast as every minute. These updates can also be accomplished on command from the viewer. The retrieval content agents run on all levels of digital boxes including Scientific Atlanta (Cisco) and Motorola and require no special equipment for the consumer to use. The agents are downloaded to the set-top box from software previously loaded into the cable headend.

"BIAP is powering the interactive television revolution with today’s most innovative products," said BIAP Inc. CEO Tim Peters. "The award of BIAP’s agent retrieval and transcoding patent along with the first patent secures BIAP’s place as the preeminent provider of interactive television features that will engage viewers in ways previously never dreamed of and make their lives more convenient."

An example of BIAP’s content retrieval is the ability of Fantasy Football players to track their individual team’s results on their television sets, accessing continuously updated information. Alerts will also appear on their TVs whenever a selected player achieves a certain milestone. Gone are the days of running back and forth each Sunday between your television for the live game and the PC to check your fantasy team’s performance.
